As most of you are aware, unless you were too busy following the final four, Steve Richards has announced that Muzak LLC has been sold to Mood Media, a Toronto Based company. The closing should take place sometime during the second quarter of this year.

Mood Media has many owned music operations in Europe and will continue to headquarter those operations in Europe. Charlotte will become the headquarters for their U.S. operations which will consist of Muzak and Trusonic. Obviously, there are many questions as to how they will structure their holdings here in the U.S.

I believe this to be a very positive step for the IPMA Affiliate Community. For the first time, we will have a strategic partner and not a financial partner. Mood Media is in our business, knows our business and likes our business. It appears that they are in it for the long haul unlike many of our previous partners. They will help us grow and become the dominant music supplier here in the U.S.
